Rumor Mill: Posthumous Aaliyah Album To Be Released

Since the untimely death of one of R&B’s first ladies in 2001, Aaliyah continues to be spoken of, whether in a confession of love from her close friend/producer Timbaland or body art tattooed on Drake’s body.

A tweet from producer Jeffrey “J. Dub” Walker of the Hitmen hinted at a possible new album from the “One In A Million” singer. “Just got great news today; the smash unreleased song called “Steady Ground” I produced on #Aaliyah is gonna be on her upcoming album:)” The post was later deleted.

Her label, Background Records, have not yet issued a statement confirming or denying the project, but the buzz has the music industry hoping the rumors are true.

Since 2002’s I Care 4 U and 2005’s Utlimate Aaliyah, this would be the first non-compilation album released after her death.
