Nicki Minaj Barbie To Be Auctioned For Charity

It was only a matter of time before Mattel thought to put Nicki Minaj in plastic form.

The creator behind the beloved girls’ plaything Barbie now has a one-of-one doll of the female rapper that will be reportedly up for grabs at on Dec. 7. Proceeds will benefit the Project Angel Food Charity that provides food for those affected with HIV/Aids. The bids begin at $1,000.

“Barbie is obviously a pop culture icon…And Nicki is a big part of pop culture and also huge within the fashion industry, as well as a big Barbie fan,” said Barbie spokeswoman Stefani Yocky. “It’s really exciting for us that she’s been so generous to allow us to create this one-of-a-kind doll to support such an important cause.”

The doll is a pint-size mirror image of the Young Money diva as she appeared on her Pink Friday album cover in all-pink everything. She joins the list of stars including Janet Jackson and Rachel Zoe, who all had special edition dolls designed of them for the charity.

Bids can be placed on the Harajuku barbie till Dec. 19.

The recent two-time American Music Award winner for favorite hip-hop/rap album and favorite hip-hop/rap artist was named Billboard’s “Rising Star” for 2011.

“I am deeply honored to be recognized by Billboard,” Minaj said in a statement. “My nation of Barbz and I have come a mighty long way-yet we are nowhere close to where God will take us. Sit back and enjoy the ride.”

She also dropped her new teaser single, channeling her alter-ego, from her sophomore effort Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded due Valentine’s Day 2012.
